A simple nature hunt became a day of discovery and creativity for our preschoolers at The Grange International Preschool (TGIP).
Armed with containers and curious minds, our young learners set off to explore our Agroforest Farm in search of natural treasures. As they wandered through the farm, they observed the plants around them, collecting a variety of leaves, flowers and even soft cotton growing among the greenery. Along the way, they asked questions, made observations and discovered the many shapes, colours and textures found in nature.
The curated outdoor experiences at TGIP encourage children to slow down and engage with the world around them. From examining flower petals to comparing different types of leaves, every discovery sparked new conversations and opportunities for learning.
From Nature Hunt to Creative Masterpieces
Back in the classroom, the adventure continued as the children transformed their collections into unique works of art. Leaves became animals, sticks turned into creative designs, and flowers added bursts of colour to imaginative creations. Each artwork reflected their ideas and observations, demonstrating how creativity can emerge from even the simplest natural materials.
Learning Through Exploration and Creativity
While the activity was filled with fun and excitement, it also created opportunities for meaningful learning. By exploring the farm and selecting natural materials, children developed their observation skills, strengthened their fine motor coordination and learned to see familiar objects from different perspectives. The creative process also nurtured confidence, independence and self-expression as they brought their ideas to life.
