The Grange International Preschool Makes a Mark on Singapore’s Largest Mural Made of Recycled Toys

A vibrant mural made from reused plastic toys was completed on 2 July 2025 at Promenade MRT Station, in support of the Go Green SG movement, celebrating Singapore’s 60th birthday. Graced by Ms Goh Han Yan, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE), the completed the final pieces of the mural together with esteemed partners from SMRT Trains, YTL PowerSeraya Pte Limited, and Lions Befrienders.

Titled “Building Our Nation Over Generations”, the mural was created by over 5,000 preschoolers’ family members and 5,000 educators. These came from across Kinderland’s five early childhood brands: The Grange International Preschool, Kinderland, ELFA, and NurtureStars, Skool4Kidz.

Volunteers from The Grange — Students, parents and teachers from The Grange generously volunteered their holiday time to help assemble a section of the collaborative art mural

During the June school holidays, students from TGIP, siblings, parents, and teachers came together to lend their time to a meaningful cause. Their participation in assembling a section of the SG60 collaborative art mural showcased the spirit of community, creativity, and sustainability that defines our school.

Conceptualised by Fadhlin AG, Head of Art at Crestar Learning Centre, the mural features vibrant depictions of national milestones, cultural icons, and beloved mascots. It reflects the SG60 theme: “Building Our Singapore Together – Let’s connect, contribute, and show we care.”

Over six weeks, the different schools collected 424kg of plastic toy waste. More than 35 percent of this waste was cleaned, sorted, and reused for the mural. This mural was officially recognised by the Singapore Book of Records – Singapore’s Largest Mural Made of Reused Plastic.

The mural remains on public display at Promenade MRT Station, serving as a powerful reminder that even discarded toys can help build a more sustainable tomorrow.
